Charicature wrote: | Zeitgeist by Smashing Pumpkins. When did Billy Corgan forget how to include a melody in his music? All but one or two tracks are droning, unlistenable garbage, and those two exceptions aren't exactly great, either. |
totally- from one of my favorite bands of all time too. It was so depressing to hear that record- terrible songwriting, abysmal vocal production- and to think its from the same mind who gave us Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie just adds insult to injury. And his first record ever with absolutely no sense of scale, no dynamics, no sense of album.
I don't really think any Oasis album is that bad- Heathen Chemistry was certainly their worst, but not incredibly unlistenable. "Songbird" I thought was a fantastic song. A little cocaine excess never really hurt anyone, did it?[/i]

Led Zepp- In through the out door.
I've written a comment on it, Ithought it was a joke, or a mistake of some kind maybe when I first heard it, after listening to all their other stuff.
It should be cordened off as a crime scene, with a cop saying to the unwary: "move along, nothing to enjoy here people!"

I just couldn't get past the use of comntempory instruments... I wasnted the riffs, guitars, and compelling music. Perhaps I just wanted led zep to be led zep, and that disappointment coloured my view.

"in the evening" is a zeppelin song on the other hand but it kinda sucks. _________________ To each his reach but if I don't cop it ain't mine to have - George Clinton

phew, had a horrible feeling for a moment I was going to be alone in my displeasure with this album.
Let's have another try!
... Dookie by Green Day is also atrocious!
