It's almost unfair to have that many hit singles put onto one album. Nevertheless it's amazing.

It would be on my chart if it were a legitimate album. Sadly, it's not.

Anyway, the first side is virtually flawless. With the exception of "Flying", which seems really out of place, every song on the first side is perfect ("I Am the Walrus" is, in fact, my favorite Beatles song of all time). The second side, on the other hand...Okay, first of all, I'll say that "Strawberry Fields Forever" is one of the most incredible songs ever written. "Penny Lane" is also fun, though nothing special. Apart from that, the second side's a pretty huge let-down. "Hello Goodbye" is okay, "Baby You're a Rich Man" is mediocre, and "All You Need Is Love" (oh lord, I think I'm gonna take some shit for this one) is literally garbage.

Overall, it's a pretty good album.

I guess I'll take this opportunity to share that I think Strawberry Fields Forever is the most overrated Beatles song. Decent? Sure. One of their greatest songs of all time? Not even close.

I disagree... It's probably one of my top 10 favourites by the Beatles Confused

Anyway, the Magical Mystery Tour should of stayed as an EP. The album that was released out of it later was unnecessary... Brilliant release from the Beatles.

I know a lot of persons will disagree but this is too loveable, I think it is in the same league with a lot of their "super acclaimed" work (including Revolver, Sgt. Pepper, The White Album). It flows incredibly well (the title track is a great opener and 100% fun, while All You Need Is Love provides a magnificent closure, full of charm and grandiose, and the way the tracks follow one another, especially in the beginning, is inspired) while pretty much every single song is great, excluding Flying and Blue Jay Way probably. The lyrics lack the ambition of their "normal" full length studio albums, achieving a far lighter mood thus making it a very enjoyable ride, devoid of any pretentiousness (I'm not saying that Revolver or Sgt. Pepper were pretentious because through songs like Within You Without You or Tomorrow Never Knows they were trying to maximize their scope, because they are consisted of amazing lyrics and sophisticated layers of sound, so they pretty much achieved their mission, but that would be too much on an album with the tone of Magical Mystery Tour, and thankfully, it wasn't done that way, so it benefits from that). Penny Lane, The Fool On The Hill, Baby You're A Rich Man are fantastic, I also like Strawberry Fields Forever a lot though it is somewhat overrated (now I see that Jasonconfused beat me to it!) however the album's masterpiece to me is I Am The Walrus. This has got to be at least among their ten greatest songs ever. Anyway, I love it.

The first official release of the recordings in the UK as an eleven-track LP did not occur until 1976.

It's because the second side is singles...

They originally released it as a EP for a sound track to the film, but decided to include side B, as I understood it from the wiki I read yesterday when I was listening to it.

Then again it is a beatles album, they are all like this
