Probably my favorite album by Ry. It's probably his BEST album, as well. It's just a great mix of songs new AND old. The musicianship is just fantastic and Ry showcases some of his best guitar playing on this one. If you're a fan of Mr. Cooder's music, pick this one up IMMEDIATELY if you haven't already done so!

Probabilmente il miglior album di Ry Cooder, anche se io gli ho sempre preferito "Into the purple valley"; sicuramente quello ( o uno dei due: l'altro è "Chicken skin music" ) in cui il tocco di Cooder raggiunge l'apoteosi. Che sia all'acustica ( doppio assolo sovrainciso in "Jesus on the meanline" ), all'elettrica ( "Fool for cigarettes" ) o al mandolino ( "Mexican divorce" ), il chitarrista regala emozioni ad ogni passaggio, dimostrando come il saper suonare non è direttamente proporzionale al numero di note che si suonano.
