My uncle said that this tour was the single greatest concert he'd ever been to. And, if the album is any indication, it must've been exhilarating. Could never figure out why ELP isn't in more "Greatest Artists" discussions. Yeah they're pretentious, but their music is perfect.

In light of the events of the last few days. I wanted to add that the studio versions of the songs performed here are vastly superior and energized in the live setting. A true testament to the great performers they are. RIP Keith Emerson you have given me great thrills and enjoyment through my life.
I love live music, I love the circus like atmosphere the crowd enthusiasm, but it never translates over to album. There are very few live albums which work. I've been very fortunate to see most of the top bands on this website live and do any of their live albums work? Not really. The problem with this live album is it's just too much. Pictures at an Exhibition works better, probably because the material is not on any studio album and that is the definitive version. This album consists of almost everything ELP had done to this point and then some. It becomes tiresome to hear 3 albums worth of recordings of their show but without the atmosphere. If you are looking for a live album of ELP I would recommend Pictures at an Exhibition.
I cannot believe that this album has rated so low. This was an incredible performance by a band at the top of their game.
