Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.1/100, a mean average of 72.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.4.

A massively important album of its time, it revolutionised a mix of the "unmixable" genres of Classical and Rock Music, opening the musical eyes of two previously irreconcilable music genre lovers. It still sounds as original and iconic nearly 55 years on. Emerson's genius pervades the work and it's performance
Um dos maiores registros de prog junto com música erudita.
I agree with Fischman's review in that it was quite a step forward for progressive rock at the time. Keith Emerson dominates this album, allowing Palmer and Lake to occasionally shine. The sounds Emerson gets his keyboards to emit were groundbreaking at the time.
quite the extravaganza featuring but not limited to classic talents of the Mr. Emerson
A ballsy move, taking Mussorgsky's classic and doing a rock version. There is much disagreement over the validity of the changes in the programme, but it works well for the most part.
Out of my vast music collection this is probably my least played album. There is no flow to it really, it kicks off with a church pipe organ which then moves into orchestral timpani then back to a Hammond organ before Greg Lake comes in. It's almost as if they are all doing their own thing for a while. Although I am a fan of synthesisers in music I don't like what Keith Emerson is doing on his Moog either, the best ELP album imo is actually the 'Works 2' compilation...
A good album, brilliantly played, but still slightly overrated, as most ELP records are. Bonkers I think is the word I'm looking for.
Favoritas: Promenade, The Sage
