Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.6/100, a mean average of 74.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.6.

The better of all commercial rock to come out. This oozes cool. It has a edge and finesse that most other commercial bands fail in achieving. Loaded with shit hot tracks.

Decent, catchy, but lacking standout moments other than Need You Tonight. Calling All Nations and Never Tear Us Apart are also good. Nothing else that I would rush to listen to again.

Mixed bag, sounds kida like early 90s teenage show soundtrack, but I gotta admit that Need You Tonight is a banger and Mistify is a true hidden gem.

A fine high-energy '80s pop-rock album. Definitely driven by the power of its hits (Devil Inside, Need You Tonight, Never Tear Us Apart).

A gem of an album and the best from INXS. The album was ahead of its time. I remember it on high rotation in the late 80's and is still strong today and beyond. My fav tracks are their non-hits being Guns In The Sky. Mystify and Kick. Brilliant perfect album!

I'm one of the few the enjoy "Listen Like Thieves" more than "Kick". To me, this seems like a re-hash of the LLT formula. As always the Farris Brothers lay down a great foundation, while Hutchence does his thing.
