Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.7/100, a mean average of 75.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.5.

An average and very unimaginative. Still listenable and solid..

My favorite Jethro Tull record. I love their "Folk Rock"-Aera.

This isn't an album I have played that often. I picked up the vinyl second hand at a record fair at a reasonable price and to be honest was more attracted by how little I had to pay than the possible musical content, being totally unfamiliar with the album, however I did already own Aqualung, War Child and Crest of a Knave so knew what to expect. Having just given the vinyl its first spin for the first time in a couple of years I realise that is actually a good album, not fantastic but very listenable. Stand out track for me is Heavy Horses.

A great album with a few stand out songs. I'd say the opener is extremely underrated. There a few great rock songs of course with a jethro tull touch and a few more folky songs. Overall a great album but perhaps it lacks the variety and uniqueness to be incredible.

One of my favourites. The title track is a surprisingly moving paean to the draught horse, and the love song 'Moths' is genuinely heartfelt too. This is Tull from deep in the heart of the country, like its hedgerow sister album 'Songs from the Wood'

Jethro Tull have 3 types of albums: a) near perfect masterpieces; b) good albums; c) weak albums. This one is a good album. You should not get this album as an introduction to the band but if you heard a bit of them and tend to like it, this one is a good choice to get some more. On the heavier side of Tull.
