Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 2% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 81.2/100, a mean average of 79.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 81.6/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 17.5.

Incredible band... Highly underrated.
Para mí, la mejor banda de rock después de los Beatles.
The best band of the 70s.
Love this amazing band
We are in a post string instrument age. No more will we have string quartets. Woodwinds like Saxophone and this band (flute) will dominate the music scene. Even more than instruments whose sounds come out of speakers!
I probaly differ from a lot of hard core Till fans by considering there first album 'This Was'to be their best. I originally bought (& still have) the single of 'Living in the Past /Driving song down here in NZ when it was first released & then 'This Was & Stand Up. I love them both however 'This Was' remains my favourite closely followed by Aqualang & Stand Up. The combination of Mick Abrahams & Ian Anderson as great on the first album. Mick moving on wasn't a tragedy either as we got the great 'A Head Rings Out' with his new ' Pig's band & Till moving onto to new things. Benefit was another great album (undserated) & I loved 'Thick As A Brick' when it was first released however I dont listen to as much as the first 4 now despite having the latest 'Super DeLuxe' version. They lost it A bit for me with ' Passion Play's & 'Minstrel'. I have tried to reappraise tnem in recent years with the Release of the Super DL versions but still return to the firest 4 albums the most.

Jethro Tull where amazing in the late 60s and early 70s. Stand Up, Aqualung and Thick as a Brick are timeless classics.
Just discovered this band... So excited, hopefully they will be my new favorite someday!
Ian Anderson is the Tom Bombadil of pop music - utterly weird, totally fascinating, sometimes boring, and of course unique. Their records vary wildly in style, and sadly quality. Albums such as 'Aqualung', 'Heavy Horses' and 'Thick as a Brick' are brilliant classics of musicianship and lyricism. But their slump into hard rock mediocrity in the 80s, the damage to Anderson's vocal cords and their wonky ventures into electronica make them as infuriating as enjoyable.
Best ever band
