The song-writting is more disjointed than on Symbolic but it has a much more interesting sound.

La culminación final al cambio de estilo que supuso la publicación de 'Human' en 1991. Se pasaba del Death Metal crudo sin ornamento a una música cada vez más pulida, donde las composiciones ganaban en complejidad a medida que Chuck Schuldiner se iba acercando sin ningún pudor al mundo del Metal progresivo. 'The Sound of Perseverance' representa la cumbre del estilo, el Death técnico no sería nada sin este disco, el último que firmó Chuck con Death antes del fatal cáncer que pondría fin a su vida tres años más tarde. La despedida perfecta a una carrera inmaculada y libre de pecado. Los cambios de ritmo son delirantes y la potencia con la que canta en este disco es digna de asombro, dejando atrás el estilo gutural propio del Death Metal en favor de una voz rasgada surgida desde lo más profundo del averno. Otra galaxia.
This is a phenomenal metal album in my opinion! Frim the first 20 seconds of track one this album is pure shred, riff, and metal up the ass. It actually blew me away how much I liked this. My favorite artist is Megadeth and this album competes with their best in my opinion. Then you get to Voice of the Soul a beautiful piece that breaks up the heaviness. So so good... If you like metal you should love this album. Sure the vocals might not be for everyone but personally I thought the fit the music perfectly and wouldn't have it any other way. Rock solid.
