Even though Deafheaven’s Ordinary Corrupt Human Love was the clear winner of Friday the 13th and their magnum opus in my eyes, I do want to send some appreciation through to this new Body/Head record. It’s a fucking great time while being quite sinister and a touch on the improvisational side. If I had to condense it as a record into a single muscular metaphor, I’d say it resembles an ominous cloud. Something foreboding, uncertain but foremost, on the horizon. It’s not going to be a listen enjoyed by everyone for sure but it’s easily one of the most solidly fascinating things Gordon has ever had a hand in constructing.
