An interesting mixture of their old style with newer, rougher edges. This album isn't as consistent as Bonito Generation but it is more varied.
Favourite Tracks: Time Today, Sometimes, Make Believe
Least favourite track: Only Acting
A fun, accessible but still really interesting album. Hope the band keeps their heat. Worthy for higher rank anyway.....

yeah i'm surprised this hasn't done better on this site . 88th is pretty low, it's in my top 10 anyway. i love that the bouncy, childlike artifice has been corroded away leaving great pop tunes, albeit with a bitter layer on top

This is a fantastic album, Kero Kero Bonito got past their j-pop novelty and decided to produce some of the best nostalgic sounding synth pop songs of the year, with a dash of rock. The subject matter is more serious and relatable this time around, but it still manages to maintain the lightheartedness, fun and joy of their previous works.Definitely a must this year, dont sleep on this band please.
It doesn't seem like too many others are, but I'm thoroughly impressed w this album. Love the mixture of distortion and synth, and there's a good amount of variety with the production and melodies. A really mature release from a band who I had only expected bouncy, carefree pop from.
