Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 69.9/100, a mean average of 68.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 69.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 19.2.

This is an often overlooked (I did) album and is underrated, delivering a number of really great songs. This is Your Land and Belfast Child are particular favourites of mine. I am really pleased that I have been able to pick this up on vinyl re-issue, now completing what I believe to be my collection of the classic Simple Minds albums heyday on vinyl.

A true gem of an album that is very underrated. From the opening bass of Street Fighting Years to the haunting and magical guitar rifts, creative percussions, atmospheric keyboards and orchestral sounds of all the tracks, this is a great listen. It has strong political, human rights and emotional feelings throughout that his very powerful. This Is Your Land (with a Lou Reed cameo), to Kick It In and the masterful Mandela Day and Belfast Child, it isn amazing album. My first big concert was them featuring this album that will always be that special moment in history for me.
