Bobbie Gentry's The Delta Sweete Revisited is the ninth studio album by American alternative rock band Mercury Rev, released on February 8, 2019, via Partisan Records. The album is a track-by-track psychedelic and gothic-rural reimagining of The Delta Sweete, the 1968 country-folk masterpiece and concept album by singer-songwriter Bobbie Gentry. The core concept features Mercury Rev's signature cinematic, dream-pop orchestration backing a different female guest vocalist on each track. The lineup brings together icons of indie rock, folk, and country music. Notably, the original 1968 track "Louisiana Man" is replaced by Gentry's most famous signature hit, "Ode to Billie Joe."
An interesting record featuring simple folk songs dressed up in Mercury Rev's fascinating instrumentation.
