“Careful” is built on anticipation and tension. Matthews’s vocals are filled with passion for things yet to happen. She sings every line with a powerful underlining emotional force. It may be fear, regret, or lust but it is all encompassing. Her crystalline vocals are paired perfectly with the smooth skeletal synths. The synths are cold and arranged with precision. The arrangements are designed to perfectly showcase the melody and beat. Much of overbearing production found in a lot dark wave is avoided with the stripped back sound. Bare, fierce, and memorable.

If you like 80's darkwave then this is for you. Gets downright spooky on a couple tracks.
