I've been delving into a lot of the music on here for the past couple of years, so a lot is familiar, but it's still well worth it for the artists I've missed and the tracks from albums that are hard to find.
Japanese ambient is awesome... "環境音楽 Kankyō Ongaku: Japanese Ambient, Environmental & New Age Music 1980–1990" is a glimpse into the minimalist, the new age, the avant-garde, the ambient and nature music of Japan. The collection brings together nationally renowned artists such as Haruomi Hosono, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Joe Hisaishi, as well as other pioneers like Hiroshi Yoshimura, Yoshio Ojima and Satoshi Ashikawa who are not well known internationally but who deserve a place among great ambient music. "Kankyō Ongaku" feeds the atmosphere of the time with a sublime overview of hard-to-find works by Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono, Joe Hisaishi and others, all compiled by Visible Cloaks' Spire Doran. A very nice compilation for a japanophile like me.
