Why did people rate this album 67/100 when the lowest track is 78/100
Not a masterpiece but certainly better than the previous Dark Horse.
My favourite is 'Tired Of Midnight Blue' but really there are more pretty good tunes here.
Overall it's a good album.
I listened to it last night in its new 2014 remaster: much better than what I remembered. No masterpiece for sure, but more than decent.
Extra Texture is often described as the worst Harrison solo album (ever worse than Gone Troppo or Dark Horse), but I have to disagree. The great opener, 'You' reminds me of the beautiful All Thing Must Pass sound and the quality of his first real solo album. This Guitar (Can't Keep From Crying) is one of my favourite solo songs by Harrison.
Other nice songs I like a lot are 'Can't Stop Thinking about You', 'Tired of Midnight Blue', and 'Grey Cloudy Lies'.
Yes, Harrison had his low period in his career after his unsuccessful Dark Horse release and US Tour in 1974, but this album is better than Dark Horse. And he didn't forget his sarcastic humour, see the inner picture of him and the text 'OHNOTHIMAGAIN'.
