Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 7% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.7/100, a mean average of 75.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.9.

This album sees John Dwyer's garage/psych rock outfit delve into slinkier grooves and lengthier jams than any previous outings. With two tracks clocking in over 14 minutes and others ripping past in just under 2, the sound and pacing here is gleefully splintered and awkward, just like the cult krautrock and fuzzy psych of the late 60s early 70s this era of Oh Sees is indebted to. Often compelling and sometimes sketchy and self-indulgent, this is the sound of an incredibly tight and experienced band continuing it's perpetual, rabid figit away from any pigeon-hole or comfort zone.
psychrock, jazzrock, punkrock, progrock all mixed up in a supersonic blender and what emerges is a masterpiece of jamming which, despite the length of some individual tracks and the length of the whole album remains groovy the whole time and never bores.
If you thought they couldn't take it any further than on Smote Reverser the listen to this one.
