Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.2/100, a mean average of 79.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 9.6.

Shortlisted for album of the year at the 2021 Grammys. The winner was Folklore by Taylor Swift (Edited)
Absolutely one of my favorite albums of all time. I love every cut on this album more and more with every listen. Each track has so much character, I haven't been moved by an album like I was with this one. 9.5/10
No matter which - a slowly soulful, older school R&B tune, or clean, uptempo funk - there is not one cut on this album which will fail to drive emotion. It is as if the Black Pumas lived as kids in 60's Motown, then went to high school and college over at the best of 20th Century Soul. If one could distill and express from the core best of American Soul and R&B over the last sixty years, yet satisfy the millenial ear as "new and now," then the Black Pumas might first come to mind. And yet each song arrives as an identifiably original tune, fresh and emotionally true. Vocalist Burton, not unlike those old school salsa guys, possesses an evocative voice which can separate naturally from horns or strings, then drop to velvet. Buy this album, then go home and darken the room.
