Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 7% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.6/100, a mean average of 78.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.4.

Hello Exile is a surprising comeback from The Menzingers. Their sixth studio album suffers from cluttered production and lyrics in the back of the mix, but the content is supurb. High School Friend suffers from some dull lyrics, but the rest of the project is really enjoyable. The group re-recorded the project during COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 with all acoustic instruments.

Nov19. So, I have loved these guys' last 3 albums and the run continues. They have really slowed down on this album and there is little punk rock here, but I still feel like these guys are writing songs just for me.
A perfect blend of what I love, but lacking just that little rough edge they had earlier. 'America (You're Freaking Me Out)' is a great opener and expresses how I am sure many Americans feel today. 'Anna', 'Last to Know' and 'Strain Your Memory' are sentimental, Bruce Springsteen-like numbers. 'Anna' is just brilliance. And who can't relate to missing out on things because you were, 'Getting fucked up with my High School Friends?' I love the little guitar part that follows the chorus on this song too.
The guitars leaping from speaker to speaker in 'Strangers Forever' and this song is all kinds of fun. The title track has a little country twang to it and great vocals that you just have to sing along with. There's maybe just one too many slow songs through the middle. 'Strawberry Mansion' and 'London Drugs' both have a nice bounce to them. 5/5
