Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.7/100, a mean average of 70.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.5.

Massively underrated. This would turn out to be George’s swan song. Amazing production matched to confessional autobiographical lyrics, this may be a couple of tracks too long (a problem affecting many albums toward the end of the CD era) this remains rich and satisfying. Less overtly pop than his early material, but the singer-songwriter material is deeply affecting, the dancey stuff is sonically exciting, and both strands are melodic and interesting. It now stands as something of a lost gem, waiting to be rediscovered by listeners willing to dive deeper into George’s catalogue. (Edited)

Instrumentally, Patience is probably the most head tilting album George has ever released. I still think Older is a better record but Patience had stuttering grooves, an imaginative atmosphere that was vast and represents the cover of the album and was varied in how the vocals were arranged. Probably the best pop album of the 2000's. (Edited)
