These guys are essentially a French cowpunk band with a (male) speak-singer who are heavily influenced by the Velvets without really sounding much like them. I wouldn't say their sound is 100% original, but it's not something you'll hear elsewhere unless you're really trying hard to find it. The songs are lacking in the catchy/melodic department, mostly because of the speak-singing, but I like the almost-chaotic guitar playing and the album does have a certain rough charm, despite the so-so cover art (they really should have just gone with the scuba diver and left the rest out of it). The album also doesn't seem to answer the question regarding the flies in Deauville, but it's been a few years now so I think we have to assume the dropping has already taken place.
