A decent album without being essential. If you like John Lennon it’s worth having.
The Double Fantasy project was to release both a John and a Yoko album mixed together into two 1/2 album each. John was murdered just some weeks after the sessions for the second album began. The project was locked and then a couple of years later Yoko compiled 6 tracks John was working on and put 6 newly recorded songs of her and the album was released.
While in Double Fantasy Yoko tracks were kind of acceptable except a few bad ones, here ALL her tracks are terrible. So bad in fact that they shift the focus of attention away from the overall very good John songs.
Anyway, the good stuff is really strong. Nobody told me is fantastic and his other tracks are very good too.
It's a shame a lunatic took this man away.
The rating of course reflects the battle of Very Good vs Awful that takes place when hearing the record.
Much maligned, I think this is a good pop record. Hey it's where his head was at the time. Mr. Lennon had mellowed and matured, he had changed and so had his music.
Don't know why, but this John's album is my favourite, maybe I'm just nostalgic, but anyway, some great track on this one.
