To me, My War is the story of side 2 of Damaged taken to its final bleak conclusion. Not a pretty picture I'm afraid. A lot harder to route for our protagonist at this point. From a completely musical point of view, Damaged is a far more varied and thus to me more interesting. Quite unique to see such breadth on a hardcore album. But I nitpick, I love My War too.

when you listen to this record you exactly get what you have expected: austere, grim punk. but it's also more sophisticated than his ancestors. so if you like punk with inharmonious, screaming guitars, enigmatic singing and elaborated "jazzy" rythms this is 100% your weapon of choice.

This album is extremely rude on the ears. Black Flag sounds like they weigh about ten tons here, moving glacially from heavy riff to ham-handed drum pattern to drawn-out bass drones. Starts out pretty interesting but gets a little humdrum by the end.

The first side is brilliant but I'm not mad on the sludge metal on the second side. The second side should've been released an EP.
