Dec19. After a few casual play-throughs, I still did not have any clear favourites here and was thinking this is nowhere near Cog. It is starting to gel now. 'Stealing Light' is a solid opener, but I prefer the rumble of second song, 'Surviving California' - the guitars really cut loose on this one during the second half. 'Jini' has a cool guitar riff and is a fun song. First single, 'Bubble' put me off initially, I think mainly due to a stupid lyric in there, but it's actually a pretty good song that has grown on me. 'Dark Matter' is a cool fast track. I have not really noticed it with Lagwagon before, but this album seems more metallic and closer to a band like Strung Out. Yeah, I am still struggling to find killer tracks of the quality of their last album here, but as usual, consistently good. 3.5/5
