This Australian manufactured compilation from 1988 features the saccharine sounds of the late 60s/early 70s real-life family group, The Cowsills, who inspired the development of the U.S. hit family singing group Television program "The Partridge Family" which debuted in the mid 70s on United States t.v. The real-life role models were lead by mother Barbara Cowsill and oldest son Bill Cowsill and made up of the remaining five younger offspring of Barbara.The family group premiered in 1967 with the title track of this compilation. Following that #4 hit on the Billboard Chart, The Cowsills had a string of charting singles over the next couple of years - reaching a pinnacle of sorts in 1969 with the Title Song from the rock musical "Hair," which is also featured here. Bill left to pursue a solo career in 1972 and the family never reached those heights again. The Cowsills established an expectation among their followers of singing bright, sunny, feel-good, charming music that can be heard on this release on Karussell and Polygram Records.
