Beautifully creative! I prefer The Colour of Spring on the whole but I can't deny this album's power. I can see why people say this album was a key influence on post-rock: it's an exercise in timbre and texture over form, with intriguing results.

totally original, stunningly creative and pretty meandering and unmemorable. Cant say that the whole amounts to anything more than a interesting atmosphere but points for being so different and ahead of its time.

A complex and beautiful album where the approach with the instrumentation is of 'less is more' and it works. The silences form a part of the whole listening experience. There is more of a 'mood' to this album than 'The Colour of Spring'.

Definitely very sparse, and unique enough that it can be hard to get adjusted too, but it well worth the effort. These guys' last two albums are really quite amazing once you fully get them. I think I would put Laughing Stock just a hair ahead, but they are both superb

Clever and different, but it's just too sparse for me. Give me Colour of Spring any day.

my first time hearing this album. Not so bad, but very complex lyrics and experimental instrumentals.

Songs here are more formed than Laughing Stock, it's an easier, more pleasant listen. I find Laughing Stock to be the darker, more troubled of the two while Spirit of Eden is the beautiful, graceful side of the same coin.

This is a very interesting and unique sound. It is very ethereal and slow. It seemed to me to be a bit too sparse, but I probably don't have the patience :) I think when I come back to it with hopefully some more jazz knowledge I'll like it more
