Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 58.7/100, a mean average of 47.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 47.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 21.4.

"Aethernet" nails it's bit compressed sound. The whole album sounds like it comes out of a game boy color. The production makes the vocals near impossible to understand without the the help of a sheet. The problem is, there no ambition beyond the sound. There is no continued evolution or greater feeling. This makes the experience feel flat and as the album goes on it's charm wavers more and more.

This album... man what the fuck. I suppose I should've realized what I was getting into when the artist's name is "Fax Gang" but dang...didn't expect actual fax noises. Considering this an experiment attempting to make music out of fax machine sounds and old dial-up internet start-up noises, this is incredible. But as music that I'd enjoy listening to...eh...not so much. Having said all that, it's not /that/ experimental. If the artist name, album name, or album art intrigue you, give it a shot. You might just like it.
