70/100 (Breezy instrumental hip hop album with snazzy bass lines and horn parts and lots of nice little details.)
This is a short and sweet instrumental hip hop album. That's it. That's all I got. JK. But seriously I'm not terribly familiar with this genre or style so expressing thoughts on it is a wee bit of a challenge.
To add a little, I'll say this is a breezy, and beautiful collection of jazzy instrumentals. Some songs have a nice dreamy vibe like "Lavender Crescendo". Some are funky and features incredible bass parts, such as "Sacagawea" and, actually again "Lavendar Crescendo" in the second half.
I love the intro to "Magewand" - the whole song is slick, but the first 20 seconds is particularly tasty.
Anyway, all in all, I really did enjoy this album. I can't say there are any parts that rise meteorically above the rest nor are there any parts at all where I was not enjoying the feast of sounds. Its a great chill out album, I imagine if I drove I would love listening to this in my car whilst driving around the city of St. Louis. Its the first album this year where I can say nothing blew my mind and nothing irritated me at all and nothing really sticks out as a feature track all that much. Maybe for fans of this genre or this family of genres may be able to pick up little production nuances and features that I am just not equipped to do.
Basically it came and it went and I liked it and that's all.

A lot of hard work happens in the background to keep BEA running, and it's especially difficult to do this when we can't pay our hosting fees :(
