"Telephone Dreams" has commitment issues. It changes back and fourth between different styles so often that it prevents the album from forming an identity. A successful synth pop sound will be followed indie rock tune hurting momentum. This approach lacks the consistency of picking a single sound or the novelty of trying a unique sound with each song. Despite the scatter, there are some great moments like pulsating "Any Way Out".
