"Lustful Sacraments" marks a huge shift in sound from classic darksynth to more darkwave post-punk feeling. The rock instrumentals are integrated very well into the more electronic backgrounds. Guitars become an essential pleasure of the album. "Death Of The Soul" through "Dethroned Under A Funeral Haze" show the fusion in it's highest quality. The problem is that beyond these solid bones, there is a lack of ambition. The conceptual explorations are missing with the lyrics being more dressing than substance. The lack of thematic strength prevents the songs from really standing out. Large periods of quiet take up a lot of space and deflate momentum. Lastly, Kent's vocals are rather forgettable. Not bad, but having nothing unique about them. Perturbator has embraced Post-punk, but he has not yet mastered it.
