"Submission And Slavery" is a creative blend of black metal and goth rock. Atmospheric guitars and synths will alternate with driving metal riffs. At first, this is extremely intriguing but it eventually becomes expected. The growls work well on heavier sounds but lack on the quieter sections. This vocal limitation is most pronounced on "As Evening Falls", turning the mood from sad reflection to a slathering ramble. The addition of more traditional vocals could have greatly helped with this weakness.
