Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.6/100, a mean average of 77.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.6.

Mto ritmo e bastante animado!
The best things I can say about this album are that the production is flawless. This thing sounds so tight, so opulent, so electric. Additionally, the performances from top to bottom are so alive and in sync. Every instrument, every vocal, every note is right where it's meant to be while feeling organic. And at the end of the day, I have to imagine that this thing was a lot of fun to make.
That said, aside from the singles, there are a few songs on this brief album that pretty much leave my brain as soon as they're done. I've listened to this a few times, and almost half of it is unremarkable beyond how immaculate the construction of it is.
But all in all, this is totally solid. And when it's at its best, there's nothing else I want to be listening to.
A top notch record, beginning to end. And it's even on corporate radio! I dug Anderson Paak as soon as I heard his Malibu record. It's a collaboration made in heaven. Paak brings his production saavy to the table. It's classic and familiar, but with a modern twist. Mars is a natural performer and vocalist.
I can't recommend this record enough.
Really easy listening and pretty good. Does what it's trying to do really well. It doesn't do anything groundbreaking but it's a good album.
There is real joy in listening to an album that the artists clearly loved making. Bruno Mars' natural smoothness and Anderson Paak's instrumental creativity compliment each other perfectly. Vocally, they bounce off each other above funk cuts that feel like they've been there forever. "Smokin' Out The Window" is particularly hilarious with lyrics involving gold-digging and the pettiness resulting from it. More critically, the songwriting does feel more generic with fairly standard flex and love themes. Despite this, it's still funky as all hell.
This is so cool! Eight songs that would have been eight 70s' masterpieces with a great production and great vocal performances. Each track got me and had at least a passage that got me by surprise, what a wonderful surprise and what a colourful album.
Very good album. Every track is incredible and the vibe is so smooth. Praying for a sequel.
