Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. “Hiss” is fast, vicious, and instrumentally articulate. Grinding guitars and smashing drums make every track have a fury to them. On occasion, the drives will break into slower sections and it kills. “When Talking Fails, It's Time For Violence” is a great example, with its break also acting as an introduction for the vocals. The main weakness of the record is its lightning song pace. Songs feel determined to end as soon as possible, so that many interesting ideas are left behind. Perhaps if it slowed down sometimes, the albums' full scale could be realized.

I can't say I love listening to this, but it is so unusual and so rich that I can't help finding it compelling.
