“Hiss” is fast, vicious, and instrumentally articulate. Grinding guitars and smashing drums make every track have a fury to them. On occasion, the drives will break into slower sections and it kills. “When Talking Fails, It's Time For Violence” is a great example, with its break also acting as an introduction for the vocals. The main weakness of the record is its lightning song pace. Songs feel determined to end as soon as possible, so that many interesting ideas are left behind. Perhaps if it slowed down sometimes, the albums' full scale could be realized.

I can't say I love listening to this, but it is so unusual and so rich that I can't help finding it compelling.
