Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 69.7/100, a mean average of 68.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 68.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.7.

Their first two albums are good, catchy, quirky post-grunge, alt-rock reminiscent of that time. However, their 3rd album, "how does your garden grow? (a series of nocturnes)" washes some electronica and spacy trip-hop across their sound and has this over-arching -feel- of a concept album. The opening spoken-sung/synth-vox track "Je Ne M'En Souviens Pas" sets the tone, mixing synth+drum machine with live drums and instrumentation and irregular lyrical structure. (i like the ending chipmunk harmony too.) The songs feel more personal/emotional too, from "at the stars" ("Blame us 'cause we are who we are. / Hate us 'cause you'll never get that far.") where i can feel the impending loss to "under you" ("I feel your breath move in, out slowly") where you can feel how in love he is, from "live again" ("LOVE ME / HATE ME / MAKE ME LIVE AGAIN / I NEED YOU AROUND") full of desire to "beautiful mistake"'s loss and disdain. "everything in 2's" is perfect for the person who wants to romantically wallow in post-bf/gf loss. They come off as heart-entangled vignettes from adolescence and early adulthood. "happy day mama" is just plain fun with its carribbean inflections. "pull" is a kick-ass, stop/start guitar jam. I also like the mysterious setup of "one more murder" where another murder "Don't mean a thing just lock your doors / And drive around".
