Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.0/100, a mean average of 70.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.7.

Against all odds, it's not only one of the best rock albums of 2012, it's Van Halen's best album since the blockbuster "1984."
Several tracks stand out as rock classics: "She's The Woman;" "Blood and Fire;" "As Is;" "Big River;" "You and Your Blues;" and the should've-been-the-album's closer, "Stay Frosty." None of the others, including the experimental "Honeybabysweetiedoll," are too far behind.
One of the best VH albums and of 2012! Love Tattoo, She's The Woman and Stay Frosty!
I wasn't really into rock like this until my boyfriend played me this album. I heard "Stay Frosty" and bought it that night.
The attitude David Lee Roth has about life makes me happy.

I haven’t listened to this album since Edward passed. Yeah, the song Tattoo sucks, but the guitars sure make up for it on the rest of the album. I don’t care if most of it is reworked songs. Since the failure of VH III there was nothing as far as albums by the band, and I was pumped when I bought this CD. Favorite songs: Stay Frosty…She’s the Woman…Chinatown (Edited)
classic album !!!
