Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 55.6/100, a mean average of 53.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 53.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 25.2.

I hadn't listened to Kanye's erm... nazi-era music for the reason that Kanye has been a personal inspiration to me in my life in becoming someone who critically analyses the status quo narratives and is anti-establishment. To see him be so easily lured into the establishment by that gay Mexican twink, really makes you wonder if someone's mental state is dictated by the number on his bank account. I was not boycotting, I just genuinely did not want to listen to someone who thinks slavery was a choice, thinks Hitler was cool, and who thinks it's not cool to say that Bush doesn't care about black people in the '00s. Now that he's taking his meds again, and apologized, I don't see why I shouldn't forgive him and give his nazi-era music a shot. As long as there are thousands of veterans and hundreds of jews in America who volunteered for the IDF walking the country freely, who murdered and raped people in the Middle East, I don't give a flying fuck what Kanye used to say, as long as he isn't saying it right now.

Having said that: it's a mediocre album. (Edited)

Most of the songs on this album have pretty bad production for Kanye standards, but there were a couple of enjoyable songs. (Edited)

Not a great release by Kanye IMO. Too bad. It seems like a lot of the discourse is about listening to an album that involves a cancelled Kanye. Fantano is probably right that you can't all the way separate the art from the artist and probably shouldn't. It just gets hard when everybody on this site has never met Kanye, or any other artist we listen to. Almost impossible to actually know who is "good" and "bad". Thinking about the actual music, it just didn't do much for me. Agree with other users that there are only 2-3 songs that I would want to come back to. Mine are Back to Me, which is hilarious and great, and Stars. (Edited)

Considering the rankings of Kanye West's album on here or somewhere like RYM, it's fair to say he is considered one of the greatest rappers of all time. He is easily my favorite. This is only slightly better than Jesus Is King. Both feel like unfinished projects. Jesus Is King at least had some lyrical content. This albums content even beside the antisemitic comments is still lacking in substance. But, is there still loads of creativity to be found? Yep. Beats and productions are strong. Ty does have good moments in here, but he doesn't play like he's a main character, like Jay-Z or Kid Cudi did in other collab albums. It's good. Not great. Not anything that I'd expect from Kanye West. Considering there is two other volumes coming out, it almost makes me feel like you could take the best from all three and make something that'd maybe be closer to the consistent quality of his career. Back to Me and Beg Forgiveness are the only songs I'd say make it to my loved tracks. (Edited)
