Ward blends folk with rock and dashes in a little bit of indie experimentation and all together, it makes for a great album. Lyrically, Ward has always been strong and continues to be on this album. This is definitely an album worth listening to.

Here's another inoffensive, safe batch of AM-radio adult contemporary tunes ready-made for a lazy day hangin' out with family on the countryside front porch drinking lemonade. He can still spin a good upbeat, toe-tappin' tune like "primitive girl" and "me and my shadow", and that's when he's at his best. (There's even a little zooey here.) But as much as i criticize m.ward for being a safe listening choice, this album's still fun to queue up. (Now bring on another Monsters of Folk album!!)
