He best since Strange Mercy. Few stratospheric highlights, and maybe doesn't have the bite of her most memorable work, but is still disciplined and fun.
On "All Born Screaming", Clark effectively utilizes her emotional range to get across the feeling of the lyrics. "Sweetest Fruit" sounds sympathetic and caring, while "Broken Man" is jaded and desperate. The production leaves too much space between the instruments. It sounds awkward and like its waiting for another nonexistent instrument to come in. The album closes out really nicely with the titular "All Born Screaming". The supportive Le Bon vocals add to the weight of it. Well done performance tempered by middling production.
Some elements of this record worked really well for me and some not so much. Really liked the darkly funky opening and grooves on tracks such as ‘Big Time Nothing’. Found some of the genre switches after this to be a little jarring but still appreciated SV trying something different :)
Annie Clark is a very great talent. And this album proves it again. Probably her best album.

This album is rad. Prog rock? Psychedelic pop? I have no idea, but it’s great. Great variety to the songs keeps the album interesting from beginning to end. One of the best albums of the year so far.

This album is unbelievable, it has a mix of Tori Amos, Peter Gabriel, Royal Blood, I didn't expect something of this quality.
