“Dark times” feels like an intimate conversation. Over mellow beats, Vince raps direct emotions. The laid back instrumentals make sure that you are always paying attention. Discussions of self-esteem, personal history, and advice are held in dead center. “Little Homies” is the most moving with its sentiment of being stronger than a difficult world. For all of this approaches' strengths, the album feels more respectful than profound. The conversation is useful but not life-changing.
I haven't heard a whole lot from Vince but this is probably my favourite album of his after Big Fish Theory.
