The earnest lyricism is a really strong step forward on "SMILE! :D". Robinson has always had a very sentimental sound, but finally, the lyrics really connect with it. "Russian Roulette" is a personal, effective anti-suicide song. The little details about what he loved from little moments hit home. The guitars are well integrated into his electronics. They work as wonderful melodic fasteners for the big waves of sound. The vocals are a bit weak with an awkward effect being put on them. They fail to rise to the standard of lyricism or instruments. Robinson's best work so far.
