Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.1/100, a mean average of 70.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.7.

Not a band that would make my favorite 100 band list, but I do like them and own a lot of their catalog which is for the most part good. With that said this is my favorite album out of all their albums. I picked up the cassette in a cut out bin at a local record store for practically nothing. It has a lot of memories attached to it so my bias maybe sentimental since an ex girlfriend in college loved it. I played it today for the first time in a long time and it still holds up which is amazing as 1978 was a year of musical transition and other substantial artists put out rubbish in 1978 as they tried to adapt to the change. BJH just updated their basic sound and it worked without compromising their own style. I don’t have a favorite track and listen to the album from start to finish. The album is a loosely based concept based on literature genres; I.e. science fiction, classics, etc. Not sure everyone will find it as appealing as I do because for me it contains associated fond memories spent in college with a girlfriend with whom I still count as a close friend.

Still one of the best soft rock Albums ever! The slow tunes "Berlin" and "Nova Lepidoptera" stood the test of time.
