Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 11% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.8/100, a mean average of 75.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 10.8.

From several years ago "...anyone who thinks that Led Zeppelin's, whole lotta love, is an original piece of work really ought to listen to, you need loving." Which was lifted from Willie Dixon (via Muddy Waters), but you know, preach on, whatever. That whole topic needs to die anyway. Blues get passed down, music gets passed down. Musicians pull from other musicians, it's the natural way.
Steve Marriott basically sings one melodic line over and over throughout the whole album, but I'm a fan, and it's great. Good hard rocking for 1966.

At first I thought this album was something more than it was. It sounds raw and gritty and it is but over time the songs got duller and duller for me. There are some interesting aspects to the music that I like. In addition to being a heavy influence on Led Zeppelin, beer commercial music also takes a lot of influence from this sound.
Their 'first' self titled album is actually their UK debut record. There is a real energy here and Steve Marriot is on superb vocal form. Some great tracks here, all served up with Gusto and passion, oh, and anyone who thinks that Led Zeppelin's, whole lotta love, is an original piece of work really ought to listen to, you need loving. Really enjoyable album.
