Their live show is where it's really at; they're always a foot-stomping good time. Somehow, that rowdy energy never quite made it to the recordings, and their last two albums fell flat for me. On Leaving Eden, they've found a different producer who stumbled on the genius idea that you have to record the whole band live if you want to capture their live sound. And--shocker--it is their best album to date.
The weakest Chocolate Drops album. I applaud their genre experimentation, but it just isn't as successful here as it was on Genuine Negro Jig.
