Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.1/100, a mean average of 70.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.3.

I was part in awe, and part relieved that after having reformed they could make such a great album. it's like they never parted.
Soundgarden are able to pick up where they left off with a consistently good album. I still listen to it regularly.
(As of 2/24/16) A 71/100? Really? This album might not have the energy that Badmotorfinger or Louder Than Love had, and it might not have the hits like Superunknown, but my god, a 71? Very underrated. It's leagues better than Down on the Upside, and you would have never guessed that there was a 16 odd year gap between that release and this one. The music is intelligent, the lyrics are esoteric, and the vocals are still simply Chris Cornell. This is a very good record and one of my favorites of 2012.
My favourite album by the band, love all the songs! I'd suggest watching Been Away For Too Long on Jools Holland!
This album grows on me. The more i listen to it, the more i love it. Better and more consistent in quality terms than Down On The Upside.
The more I listen to this the more I fully believe it fits right in with Badmotorfinger and Superunknown. Somehow they got that spark back. If only Cornell's voice was 20 years younger.
This record really grew on me. I almost removed it from my iPod after my first listen, but by the fifth listen I thoroughly enjoyed every song.
Ahhh it sounds like 1991 all over again. Soundgarden is back together and have released their first album in sixteen years. But it sounds like they never broke up. Sometimes when bands reunite for the first time in a long time they either sound awful, like they’re trying way too hard to sound like their old selves, or they sound like they never broke up and the latter is what Soundgarden sounds like. They sound a bit older, sure, but the music sounds loud, raw and powerful. Chris Cornell sounds awesome and this album sounds so much like “Badmotorfinger", but not quite there. If you’re a Soundgarden fan, you definitely will not be disappointed in this album.
It's still Soundgarden, so it's still good. Still has powerful riffs and still strains the speakers. However, Chris Cornell has killed his voice. I guess 13 years of Soundgarden plus 6 years of Audioslave and a crappy solo career killed his vocal chords. Too bad - it weakens what could have been a half-decent album.
