Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 17% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.9/100, a mean average of 73.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.5.

This is where Megadeth starts to go for more hard rock than pure heavy metal, but they do it with mostly awesome success. Dave was at his vocal peak here as well. Train of consequences, Toute le Monde, and reckoning day are among the bands classic songs. The band began a slow decline after this album IMO.

This was definitely a top tier Megadeth record for me for a long while especially as a kid, however for my ears it hasn't aged that well at all. It was a tumultuous time for the band and Mustaine and the flaccid writing and lack of original or convincing ideas shows just that. Train of Consequences and its unique riff is still a standout for me, but songs like Family Tree, Victory, and Addicted to Chaos do not have much going for them in my opinion.

It's a bit of a Countdown to Extinction part two and nowhere near as good.
