Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 81.2/100, a mean average of 80.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 81.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.8.

What a fantastic musical composition from beginning to end. This album encapsulates me with every listen and I find myself getting completely lost in the music. From the instrumentation to the vocal performances it is just brilliant and their style of music is so pleasing to the ears. The performances all round the group are sensational with the guitar, organ, piano and drums really standing out amongst strong competition. The solos we are treated to on the guitar stun me and I can't help but just sit back and admire the quality on display. The final track is the peak of this album for me with all the previous songs seeming to be a build up to this one massive track that is one of the most perfect prog compositions I have ever heard. Overall, this record is extremely strong and powerful and is one of the very best pieces of prog music on offer and is also one of the greatest albums ever made.

I'd say the most beloved from Camel fans: actually i could even agree, but... little bit longer?! So that i prefer Moonmadness and the Snow Goose.

I guess this is a must-listen for prog fans. They tick all the boxes of what a prog album should be, what for some people mean it's a masterpiece... for me it means it's just another prog album.

Master piece. It´s a shame they are not much famous as other bands but, there´s no doubt this is one of the greatest rock bands. Very creative and, this album is fantastic.

I don't know if these guys wrote the book on prog-rock but it definitely is a complete representation of the genre. You got the quick tempo changes, the scale pornography, the flute. Everything you need for a good 'ol prog-time while remaining surprisingly jazzy. The musicianship is of course, as I knew beforehand, at a very high level. Very interesting guitar-tone and synth sounds that you can tell was either inspired by or inspired Chick Correa, if it was weirder it could be a Return To Forever album. The interplay between the flute and the keys is quite something. It's a very even album, which is to be expected of this kind of instrumental noodling. But Nimrodel and Lady Fantasy stand out only because they are greater in scope.

Good record.

Easily one of the greatest progressive rock albums. Definitely an album and band that should be more appreciated by all.

-Not overwrought, great

This album contains the progressiveness you desire from an act like Camel. The tense rock licks on Freefall prove that. This album flows greatly. It's flute is more sophisticated than anything Jethro Tull put out. It all is in order here. Brilliant album.
Lady Fantasy is a fantastic eclectic compostion.
Mirage is a true prog-rock masterpiece and Camel's best.

What a fantastic gem of an album this was to come across on Spotify! Wow! It seems no matter how hard I try, I always end up preferring 70s prog. None of this Steven Wilson's/Porcupine Tree stuff
