Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 21% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.8/100, a mean average of 72.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.0.

My introduction to the retro sounds of The Hoodoo Gurus - and I will forever feel blessed. A combination of Beatlesque chiming guitars, tribal drumming, and Cramps-like cemetery humor, "Stoneage Romeos" plays it hard and fast, and gives notice that this group from down under would be around for a while. Not a bad song among them. "My Girl" demonstrated lead singer/lyricist, Dave Faulkner's sensitive side, while "I Was A Kamikaze Pilot" showed their sense of humor. Add in the trippy "Let's All Turn On" and "Zanzibar", the deep sea adventure "Death Ship", and highlighted by the album's most excellent desert island soap opera "Leilani" this album is a WINNER. Take some advice paraphrased from HG

Absolute classic & soundtrack to my youth . Listening to this album never gets tiresome and some how still sounds fresh after all these years . I actually think Blow Your Cool is the better album but Stoneage Romeos will forever hold a special place in my heart .
