These are simply some of the most personal, affecting rock songs ever written. Not personal in the sense of "feel my pain" -- but in the sense of "I love music." Petty here wants to share his favorite types of song styles with the listener. Since he was once such a radio star, these can seem formulaic at first. But eventually it gets to you. If you can hear right, this is a naked and beautiful CD.
The more I hear this album, the better it gets. First 4 / 5 tracks are up there with the best that TP has ever done. (Edited)

When I was living in Korea back in 1997, my sister mailed me a cassette tape of this album. It was one of three tapes I had with me at the time (for some reason I didn't have the presence of mind to bring more music with me), and I wore the thing out. The title track is one of the sweetest love songs I've ever heard, and although it's probably overplayed, it still moves me every time. And it reminds me that we all, one way or another, belong among the wildflowers.

Tom Petty continuing the groove he established with Full Moon Fever and his work with the Traveling Wilburys. A great mellow album for afternoons in the woods or at the lake.
