She was still awaiting for an album to make the charts outside of her native America, but alas this wasn't to be the one. In the USA she scored a No.1 and a No.2 hit, but both didn't even chart in the U.K. Her country music leanings was too strong to appeal worldwide, but her earlier soul cover versions, showed she actually could sing and had a voice, just a waste when singing country music.
Shortlisted at the Grammy's in 1976 for album of the year. the winner was Still Crazy After All These Years by Paul Simon
Linda Ronstadt es una de las grandes voces de la música popular y es difícil elegir entre sus discos de los 70. Heart Like A Wheel es mi favorito.
Ronstadt wears her influences on her sleeves, recording songs made famous by Buddy Holly, Hank Williams, Little Feat and the Everly Brothers. She also includes a nice selection from singer-songwriters Paul Craft, James Taylor, JD Souther and Anna McGarrigle.
The nice selection of songs is enhanced by spirited vocal performances and simple, slick production. A real winner and influencial album in the country-pop genre.

Such a strong selection of songs that you might almost miss that this is essentially a country album.
This is a great record. Ms. Ronstadt hit home run with this one. The production and choice of material are perfect for her voice. A classic!

'Willing' came on the radio this morning...such a great recording of the Little Feat song. Don't let the single "You're no good" fool you..not a great song, but the rest of the album is classic.

This is really a country album and did better on the country charts than the American pop charts...For what this is, I think that it is a great album, much better than the ones she did for Elektra/Asylum..listen to "Willing" and especially "Faithless love", it broke my heart. I think that when she finds the right song, it works for me...her best song however, is "Rambler Gambler", a 45 only, the B side of that awful "How do I make you". One of the all time best tracks...Perfect for riding the range...
