Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. Her voice is original and has that nasal and French chanson tone.

I thought the first half was amazing, the second not so much. "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" is quite weak.
This has covers (i.e. C'est Si Bon, Let's Do it,Smoke Gets In Your Eyes etc) and originals. To me, Eartha Kitt's selling point was her voice, so the lack of original material doesn't bother me. I had a good time listening to the whole thing. "I Want to Be Evil" ended up being my favorite-
